Ideology and Political Belief

That man is created in the image of God means that he is given lordship over the earth.... As a creature, he must discover and accept the meaning implicit in the world into which he emerges, but as one created in the image of God, man is a creator of meaning.... The humanization of earth is the task of the creature; hence, the doctrine of the image of God should be an impetus to destroy all those forms of psychological and social organization which are repressive and destructive of human dignity.... Grace is the gift of responsible freedom. The dignity of human life lies in its ability to decide, to act, and to create....

Life is to be lived under the sign of gratitude and not obligation; it is not a debt to be repaid but a gift to be enjoyed.

Sam Keen
