In fact live in eternity.
And all our intuitions mock
The formal logic of the clock.

Religion and Science

Do we, holding that the gods exist,
Deceive ourselves with insubstantial dreams
and lies, while random careless chance and
change alone control the world?

Talthybius (Euripides, Hecuba [488-500])

We are to find God in what we know, not in what we don't know.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Religion and Science

For creation "science," so-called (i.e., creationism, as opposed to both scientific cosmology and to mythopoeic and theological doctrines of Creation), see also Creationism: Antiscience and Pseudotheology.

And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.
Matthew Arnold

We do not understand the existence of the world one whit better by telling ourselves that God created it. It is a begging of the question, or a merely verbal solution, intended to cover up our ignorance. In strict truth, we deduce the existence of the Creator from the fact that the thing created exists, a process which does not justify rationally His existence. You cannot deduce a necessity from a fact, or else everything were necessary.
Miguel de Unamuno

Science is a differential equation. Religion is a boundary condition.
Alan Turing

Any faith that admires truth, that strives to know God, must be brave enough to accomodate the universe. I mean the real universe.
Palmer Joss (from Carl Sagan,Contact. A Novel)
